MEMBERSHIP
Information about the categories of Associates, costs of each category and the admission procedure are provided below.
Associate Categories
The Association has established 5 categories of Associate (Art. 9 of the Statute):
A
ACTIVE FOUNDING ASSOCIATES: These are those natural or legal persons who sign the founding document.
B
ACTIVE ASSOCIATES: Includes founding active associates, honorary associates, benefactor associates, and new members who join later as active associates.
C
HONORARY ASSOCIATES: These are those people to whom this distinction is conferred in merit of their dedication, studies and contributions to herpetology, whose activity is prestigious or supported by the Association.
D
BENEFACTOR ASSOCIATES: These are those who contribute special fees, generally significantly higher than the annual fees of Active Associates. These Associates only have the right to voice.
E
STUDENT ASSOCIATES: These are higher level students who certify this condition and are accepted by the Board of Directors. These Associates have the right to voice.
Associate Benefits
The Asociación Herpetológica del Perú is a private, non-profit civil association.
The AHP aims to contribute to the development of Herpetology in Peru, promoting research, conservation, training, teaching and dissemination, aimed at different professionals and interested parties.
To achieve these objectives, the AHP promotes exchange by organizing seminars, courses, workshops and conferences, publications, and develops scientific research, being a repository of biological material.
Benefits received by Associates include:

Right to be informed and participate in all the Association's activities. We have dedicated email and social networks, including WhatsApp, Messenger, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and TikTok.

Right to vote in Assemblies.

Right to elect and be elected as a member of the Board of Directors and Committees.

Right to special benefits to participate in events organized by the Association (such as priority registration, discounted rates on Association activities, and preference in the distribution of equipment and materials).

Right to propose and participate in the Association's projects.

The right to receive scholarships from the Association or support for obtaining scholarships and awards from other organizations for studies, research, and/or work opportunities. The Association will implement an annual scholarship program to financially support undergraduate theses, master's degrees, or small research projects on amphibian and reptile species in Peru.

Contribution to the science of herpetology and conservation of Peruvian amphibian and reptile species. Part of its membership fees are used to finance scholarships, awards, and publications.

“Peruvian Herpetologists on the Internet” initiative, which consists of the publication of a personalized presentation page for the Associate, whose objective is to strengthen the professional image of Peruvian herpetologists at the national and international levels.

Additional discounts in stores and/or services managed by the Association.

The obligations of the Associates for the right to these benefits are:

Comply with and enforce the Statutes.

Pay on time the ordinary and extraordinary fees and other obligations that may be established by the General Assembly.

Comply with the decisions of the Association's bodies adopted following the Statutes.

Perform the duties for which they were elected and carry out the commissions or tasks assigned to them by the Board of Directors and the General Assembly.

Use the credential of the Association called "ASOCIACIÓN HERPETOLÓGICA DEL PERÚ" ethically and responsibly.

Procedure to request admission as an Associate.
The following is the procedure approved by the 2022-2024 Board of Directors.
All communications for this procedure must be made through the AHP email ahp.org.pe@gmail.com

To be accepted as Associates, interested parties must submit a membership application addressed to the President of the Association. They must attach a summarized and undocumented Curriculum Vitae. You can download a sample request letter from this link.

Your request will be reviewed by the Board of Directors, which if there are no observations, will proceed to approve it, which will be notified to you by the Secretariat. In case of observations, the AHP Secretariat will notify you of the observations for your defense. In any case, the notification will be sent to you after 3 business days.

In the notification of approval of your application, you will be provided with the details of the bank accounts into which you must pay the payment corresponding to the Associate Category you are requesting, as well as a link to register your personal data.

You must write a message to the AHP email, attaching an image of the deposit or transfer made to pay the membership fee.

The AHP Secretariat will verify the payment and registration of your personal data, and will notify you of your individual member registration number.
